ATTENTION!

IT IS RECOMMENDED BUT NOT MANDATORY THAT YOU COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ONLINE BEFORE COMING TO THE OFFICE AT https://georgiaprobaterecords.com/Firearms/FirearmsApplication.aspx UPON ARRIVAL, PLEASE LET THE CLERK KNOW YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE APPLICATION ONLINE.

Georgia Weapons Carry applications will be taken from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at:

First Time Applicants

Applicants must:

  • Be 21 years of age
  • Be a resident of Paulding County to apply for and receive the license here
  • Provide a valid Georgia Drivers License or Georgia I.D. with correct Paulding County Address. 
  • Be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal and mental health records check
  • Not have any legal disqualification
  • Provide proof of legal residence if the applicant is not a citizen of the United States
    • For Immigrants:
      • Driver’s License
      • Valid ICE issued ID (valid AR#)
    • For Non-Immigrants:
      • Driver’s License
      • Valid ICE issued ID (valid I-94#)
      • Meet one of the Exceptions as provided in 18 U.S.C. 922 (y)(2)
  • No weapons carry license shall be issued to any person younger than 21 years of age unlesshe or she provides the above and is:
    • At least 18 years of age
    • Provides proof that he or she has completed basic training in the armed forces of the United States
    • Provided proof that he or she is actively serving in the armed forces of the United States or has been honorably discharged from such service
    • Suggested Proofs of the above:
      • Certificate of completion of basic training
      • Current pay stub showing current employment with military
      • DD214 (ie: medically discharged, etc.)

Fee for Applying for Georgia Weapons Carry License: $79.25

All fees are payable by Cash, Money Order, Visa or MasterCard. There is a fee accessed to all Visa and MasterCard transactions.

Upon approval and printing of your Georgia Weapons Carry License it will be mailed to you by the Police and Sheriff Press at the address provided by you on your application.

Refunds

There is no refund of any part of the application and other fees once the application is filed and the process has begun.

Issuance of License

Upon receipt of the required criminal and mental health records, those records are reviewed for the applicant’s eligibility to receive a license. Any questions concerning eligibility are referred to the Judge for determination. If the applicant is determined to be eligible to receive a license, the license will be issued within 60 days. The permit is valid for five years.
