Video Conferencing is now used to hold First Appearance Hearings.
First Appearance Hearings are usually held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday by a magistrate judge via video conference. The exact time and presiding judge varies depending on the
Magistrate Office's calendar.
The First Appearance Hearing is an initial appearance for the defendant to be advised of the criminal charges that have been filed against them and to determine if a bond will be set. This is
not a "formal" bond hearing.
The inmate will not be carried outside the detention facility for this hearing. No one from the public will be allowed in to the secured area of the detention center to attend this hearing.
