Salary and Benefits
  • Detention Officer- starting salary $26,667  
  • Deputy Sheriff – starting salary $30,860

Medical and Dental

Annual Leave
  • 1st year – 40 hours
  • 2-4 years – 80 hours
  • 5-9 years – 96 hours
  • 10+ years - 120 hours

8 hours monthly or 96 hours yearly

Retirement

Vested after 5 years

Overtime Pay

After 86 hours in a biweekly period.

Work Cycle

84 hours every two weeks. Shifts are 5:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m.

Fitness Center

Fitness Center is available to the officers 24 hours daily and is geared towards strength training.

Detention Officer

DETENTION OFFICER duties are to provide safety for inmates and the facility.

In addition, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office provides the following equipment for Detention Officers:
  • Total uniform apparel including boots and leather duty gear 
  • Taser
  • O.C. Spray
  • Handcuffs
  • Portable Radio
  • Extensive training for job proficiency

Deputy Sheriff

Deputy Sheriff duties include but are not limited to patrolling the county, protecting the public, and enforcing the laws through arrest or other appropriate means.

In addition, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office provides the following equipment for all Deputies:
  • Total uniform apparel to include boots and leather duty gear 
  • Glock .45 caliber primary weapon
  • Shotgun
  • ASP Baton
  • TASER
  • Bulletproof vest
  • Weapon mounted flashlight
  • O.C. Spray
  • Handcuffs 
  • Portable Radio
  • Mobile data terminal (MDT)
  • Video/audio camera for patrol car
  • Take home patrol car (after sucessful completion of the FTO program) 
  • All training uniforms provided
