Paulding County Service
Major Shelia Craton began her law enforcement career in 1990 as a Detention Officer at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. After graduating from basic mandate training at the Northwest Georgia Law Enforcement Academy in June of 1992, she was promoted to Lieutenant.
Craton continued to work in the Adult Detention Center filling many jobs to include Hall Officer, Control Officer, Book-in Officer, and Supervisor of Financial Accounts. Major Craton has over 1400 hours of P.O.S.T. law enforcement training and also holds the Jail Training Officer (J.T.O.) certification. While serving as a Lieutenant, Craton helped write the Detention Center Standard Operating Procedure and ensured that all policies were implemented.
Major Craton served for 10 years on the board of the Georgia Jail Association where she served as the Region 1 Representative and helped implement many changes in the jail system of Georgia. For the past 18 years Major Craton has also served as the CISCO Systems Administrator for the Sheriff’s Office.
Major Craton was promoted to Captain and assumed the role of Assistant Jail Administrator in April 2013. In 2014, Craton was recognized for her hard work and professionalism when she received the Officer of the Year Award from the Paulding County Rotary Club.
Craton was promoted to the rank of Major and took over as the Jail Administrator on July 2, 2014.
