The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has a project underway on Hwy 278 in front of the Government Complex that will affect travel. In addition, the County has future entrances planned to improve access to the Government Complex. The information below is intended to keep you informed and provide you a point of contact for questions. See link below for aerial map of the projects.

- US 278 AT SOUTH MAIN STREET IMPROVEMENTS (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Currently, at the intersection of South Main Street and Hwy 278/Jimmy Campbell Pkwy, motorists are able to exit onto Hwy 278 to travel eastbound. GDOT will be reconfiguring this intersection to become a “restricted” crossing. After improvements are completed, motorist will exit South Main Street to the right (westbound) onto Hwy 278. New pavement will be added west of the intersection to provide a U-Turn for motorist to travel eastbound. During heavy traffic, it may be advisable to continue further to Buchanan Hwy or use other options through the City of Dallas. This project is one of many safety initiatives for the complex that are aimed at reducing the potential for injury and crashes.
- 2018 GOVERNMENT COMPLEX ENTRANCES
Paulding County is working diligently to begin construction of two additional entrances to the Paulding Government Complex. These projects will provide alternatives to access the Government Complex and aid traffic associated with the Georgia Department of Drivers Services office and the future location of the Paulding County Detention and Law Enforcement Center. The entrance improvements are as follows:
Justice Center Drive at West Memorial Drive
In 2018, the County will extend Justice Center Drive from the Georgia Department of Drivers Services office to intersect with West Memorial Drive.
Justice Center Drive at Hwy 278
By 2019, a new entrance will be constructed connecting Justice Center Drive to Highway 278. This intersection improvement will allow traffic exiting the Government Complex to travel both east and west bound on Hwy 278.
We appreciate your understanding and assistance with informing others of these upcoming projects. If you have any questions, please contact Jana Ragsdale at Paulding DOT: 770-445-4759 or at firstname.lastname@example.org .
