On December 2, 2022 at 8:29 pm, Paulding County Dispatch received a call that a manhole was overflowing behind 32 English Ivy Way in Acworth. The operations manager met the County’s standby contractor onsite and traced the problem to a fault of the level sensor at McEvers lift station. The pump station was immediately switched to run manually in order to stop the spill and allow time for correction of the fault. The fault was repaired and the station was returned to normal operation at 1:00 am. It is estimated that 50 gallons per minute for a total of 13,550 gallons of wastewater had overflowed from the manhole and onto the ground entering Pumpkinvine Creek. Debris was removed, lime was applied to the area and signs were placed at the creek.
