On May 22, 2022 the sewer collections division received a call from the Paulding County water dispatch that the Due West lift station had a high wet well level. When crews arrived at 9:20 p.m., the manhole behind the station was overflowing at an estimated 40 gallons per minute. The rental company was immediately contacted and a mechanic was dispatched to repair the bypass pump. The pump repair was completed and the flow stopped at 10:48 p.m. A total of 3520 gallons of untreated sewage entered Possum Creek. The site was cleaned up, and lime was applied to neutralize conditions. A sign was placed where the spill entered the creek. Primary pumps are being returned to service at the pump station.
