At 9:00 a.m. on November 24, 2021, Paulding County crews were performing one of the follow up checks at 115 Hunt Creek Drive in the Bentwater subdivision. During this follow up the crews found a manhole had begun to surge with an estimated 600 gallons of sewer runoff going directly into a storm drain. The storm drain empties into a ravine that eventually runs into a tributary of Pumpkinvine Creek in the basin served by the Pumpkinvine WRF. It is estimated that 600 gallons of sewer came out of the manhole and went into the storm drain. The upstream pump station flow was diverted to stop flow by 9:45 a.m. A temporary bypass has been installed until the pipe can be replaced along with the manholes adjacent to it. Lime will be applied to affected soil and signs will be placed at the creek.
