Since the late 1980s Paulding County Citizens have voted to support a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program (SPLOST). SPLOST IV was approved by the voters (58.68%) on May 24, 2016
The SPLOST represents a way for Paulding County, the City of Dallas and the City of Hiram to raise funds for projects, which would otherwise be funded by general funds (such as property taxes). With this 1 cent sales tax, money is raised for some of the County and the Cities improvements when an item is purchased within Paulding County – by residents or by visitors to our County.
Collections began in April 2017 and will continue through March 2023. Projected revenue is approximately $110,000,000.
SPLOST funds are shared between Paulding County, the City of Dallas and the City of Hiram as follows:
Paulding County - 86.9% ($95,590,000)
City of Dallas - 7.3% ($ 8,030,000)
City of Hiram - 5.8% ($ 6,380,000)
